The Polchinksi/renormalisation flow and a multiscale LSI

Speaker: Albert Zhang, Courant (NYU)

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 517

Date: Monday, November 20, 2023, 12:30 p.m.

Synopsis:

Abstract: We introduce the Polchinski/renormalisation flow (which, under a reparametrization, is also known as the stochastic localization process by Eldan) and use it to obtain a multiscale condition for the log-Sobolev inequality. This generalizes the classical Bakry-Emery theorem and its proof via Langevin dynamics. The talk will be expository and is based on recent work by Roland Bauerschmidt (et al).
