Student Probability Seminar

Machine Learning: From Probability Theory to Algorithms

Speaker: Vitaly Kuznetsov

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 905

Date: Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 3:30 p.m.

Synopsis:

Machine learning algorithms have gained a lot of popularity in the recent years. In this talk we will use elementary tools of probability theory to derive one of the most widely used algorithms - support vector machines. If time permits we will also discuss other topics relating probability theory and machine learning such as PAC-learning and uniform laws of large numbers. No prior knowledge of machine learning is required.
