#### Commuting Hamiltonians and Symplectic Topology

Speaker: Claude Viterbo

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Date: Monday, March 21, 2011, 3:45 p.m.

Synopsis:

We shall discuss the following question: given sequences of functions $$H_n,G_n$$ on a symplectic manifold, converging for the $$C^0$$ topology to $$H,G$$ and such that their Poisson bracket tends to $$K$$, in what sense do the Poisson brackets of $$F$$ and $$G$$ equal $$K$$. We shall give examples, counter‐examples, and variations on this question.
