Synopsis:

Using the Rb/E2F pathway as a model, I will present a novel approach to nonlinear dynamics based on combinatorial and topological techniques.  This approach has several important consequences including the ability to give a well defined finite representation of dynamics, to rigorously describe dynamics over large sets of parameter values, and the fact that it computationally accessible.  As a particular, application I will describe how the associated software DSGRN can be used to search for simple robust models of the switching behavior that is at the heart of the Rb/E2F pathway.
