Integral Versions of the Tate Conjecture Over Finite Fields

Speaker: Alena Pirutka, Centre de Mathématiques Laurent Schwartz

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 201

Date: Tuesday, October 14, 2014, 3:30 p.m.

Synopsis:

In this talk we will discuss some examples when an integral version of the Tate conjecture holds, as well as some counterexamples. In particular, we will show how to use the unramified cohomology groups in this context. Following the approach of Atiyah-Hirzebruch and Totaro, we will also use Steenrod operations and classifying spaces of algebraic groups to provide a counterexample with a non-torsion non-algebraic cohomology class.
