Exam format (IMPORTANT: This is NOT the same as the midterms)
- The exam will be administered using Gradescope
- The exam will have two types of problems:
- Multiple choice: Answers will be entered online, just as you did for quizzes.
- Free response: You will write your solutions on paper, one problem per page, and upload them as a single PDF. See below for important details.
- The exam will consist of two separate Gradescope assignments:
-
Part 1 will have ALL of the problems, both multiple choice and free response
-
Answers to the multiple choice problems will be entered into Part 1, just as you did for online quizzes.
-
Part 2 contains only a template for your answers to the free response problems.
-
You will write your solutions to the free response problems on paper and upload them to Part 2, similar to what you did for the midterms.
-
See below for important differences from the midterm procedures.
-
Your solutions to the free response problems must be formatted as follows:
-
The format must match the format of the template PDF in Part 2
-
The solution to each part of a problem must be on its own single page.
-
If your solution to a problem is longer than one page, the additional pages must be placed at the end of your submission, with the problem number clearly indicated on each page
-
If you do not answer a question, you must still include a blank page in the PDF for that problem.
-
Submission procedure:
-
Keep your video on until you have finished submitting your exam
-
You must upload your solutions as a SINGLE PDF containing all of the pages. Separate images will not be accepted.
-
If you have never submitted homework or midterm solutions as a single PDF, it is critical that you figure out how BEFORE the day of the final.
-
You will have 100 minutes to do both parts and 10 minutes to scan your solutions to the free response problems and upload them to Gradescope.
-
If you have trouble uploading your solutions to Gradescope, immediately email them to me. You can keep trying to upload them to Gradescope after you do that.
Final examination trial run, parts 1 and 2
-
There are two Gradescope assignments, available from now until 11:59pm on Tuesday, that allow you to do a trial run of the final exam.
-
It is critical that you do these trial runs.
-
You want to minimize any technical difficulties during the real final exam and maximize the amount of time you have to do the problems.
Technical Issues
-
Brief freezing or interruptions of your Zoom connection will be ignored.
-
If Zoom disconnects, it will usually automatically reconnect. You do not need to do anything.
-
Reconnect to Zoom manually if necessary.
-
Zoom logs when you connect and disconnect. This information can be consulted later, if necessary.
-
If you are unable to upload your exam to Gradescope within the 10 minutes, please send the scans by email to me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
