Elasticity, Spring 1998
These are materials for the course "Elasticity"
taught by
Jonathan Goodman
in the Spring term of 1998 at the
Courant Institute
at NYU. The course meets .
from 1:20pm. until 3:10pm Monday afternoons.
Course description:
Basic continuum mechanics: Lagrangian and Eulerian descriptions, elastic
energy, stress and strain, elastic waves. Asympototics and stability
analysis of beams and shells. Notions of convexity in nonlinear
elasticity. Models of plasticity, strain localization and failure.
Composite materials and smart materials.
More materials will be posted when the course is going.
