Calculus Prerequisites and Advanced Placement
updated Aug 30, 2011Here are the prerequisites and placement policies for calculus courses. For more information about the courses, please consult our Course Descriptions page.

** Students whose cohort starts in Fall 2012 or later please see the new requirements below each Calculus class. **Students who wish to enroll in Calculus I, must meet one of the following prerequisites:
- a. SAT score of 750 or higher.
- b. ACT/ACTE Math score of 34 or higher.
- c. AB 4 or higher.
- d. BC 3 or higher.
- e. Completion of Algebra and Calculus (MATH-UA 009) with a grade of C or higher.
- f. Placement
Test
- g. SAT Mathematics Subject Test score of 750 or higher.
** As of Fall 2012, students who wish to enroll in Calculus I must meet one of the following prerequisites: **
- a. SAT score of 650 or higher on mathematics portion
- b. SAT subject test in mathematics (Level 1 or Level 2) of 650 or greater
- c. ACT/ACTE Math score of 30 or higher
- d. AB 3 or higher
- e. BC 3 or higher
- f. Completion of Algebra and Calculus (MATH-UA 009) with a grade of C or higher
- g. Placement Test
- a. Calculus I (MATH-UA 121) with a C or higher.
- b. AB 4 or higher
- c. BC 4 or higher.
- d. Placement
Test
- a. Calculus II (MATH-UA 122) with a C or higher.
- b. Placement Test
** As of Fall 2012, students who wish to enroll in Calculus III, must meet one of the following prerequisites: **
- a. Calculus II (Math-UA 122) with a C or higher
- b. BC score of 5

2007-2008 Guide to Advanced Placement Credit
A student who receives a 4 or better on the AB test is placed into Calc II and receives 4 points of credit for Calculus I, MATH-UA 121.A student who receives a grade of 4 or better on the BC is placed into Calc III MATH-UA 123 and receives 8 points of college credit in lieu of MATH-UA 121 and MATH-UA 122.

2008-2009 Guide to Advanced Placement Credit
Students who receive a 4 or better on the AB test will receive 4 points of credit for Calculus I, MATH-UA 121. Students who receive a 4 on the BC will receive 4 points of credit for Calculus I, MATH-UA 121; those who received a 5 on the BC will receive 8 point of credit for Calculus I, MATH-UA 121, and Calculus II, MATH-UA 122. Please note, all students who wish to take Calculus III must receive a C or better in Calculus II or take a placement exam.**These guidelines are for students enrolled in CAS.
